A few weeks ago in my commercial photography class we were assigned to do an “urban portrait.” My lovely husband AJ, co-owner of Berkshire Guitars, posed for me in downtown Augusta, GA. All of them were taken within a two-block radius before we got too cold and went on home.We had good timing too, because a rainstorm hit a few minutes after we got back in the car.

This one got good reviews from the in-class criticque. I personally love the pale yellow color contrasting with his dark outfit, which is balanced out by the windows on the abandoned building.

There aren’t enough photos in the world of this man, I must say. These two last photos have a different feeling than the first, but I love them both as environmental portraits and just straight-up portraits.

I like the shot against the yellow wall the best. As a Phoenix commercial photographer one of the things that jumps out at me the most about that particular one is the separation the subject has from the background.
Great phototgraphy! I love the composition in the second photo, very nice diagonal, vertical and horizontal lines and of course, beautiful choices of colour!
