During the last fall semester, I took a typography class that was also a sort of history of graphic design. We did a lot of poster-type works, one of my favorite mediums. The one above is supposed to emulate the art-nouveau style of the turn of the 19th century.

This poster was done during our unit that covered the early 18th century and the effects of industrial printing on design.During that time, typesetters almost over-did the amount of typefaces they used because there were so many newly available. In my own interpretation I made a poster for my husband’s company, Berkshire Guitars, using copy from all of their pages. I got my inspiration from the circus posters of the era that detailed all their acts in lavish, over-the-top typefaces.

Meant as a feminist statement as much a school project, I did this poster to emulate the Dadaist style of Hannah Höch. The quote is one from Stalin, while I do not share in most of his political ideas, I do believe that women have a major impact in the progression of worldwide events.

This is an earlier poster I did for a different graphics class as well as a play the drama department was putting on called The God Committee. All the students in my class submitted and mine, according to the head of the drama department, was chosen because of the straightforward message and bold colors. It was really exciting to see this in full color around campus!
