These are the photos that I did for my husband’s company website, Berkshire Guitars. I was surprised at how well they turned out and how they look even better on the actual site. I’ve selected my favorites, though there are many more.

The Photography Cave

February 2008

I love taking photography courses. This last semester at USC Aiken I was enrolled in the Photography 101 course, which is taught by Ginny Southworth. She focused on the basics of photography, as well as the darkroom. I had been aching to work in the darkroom since my senior year in high school when my art teacher Patricia Robertson showed me all the inner workings of the photographer’s cave. I spent many lunch hours there (as well as aerobics class!). So, for you to peruse, are the photos and art pieces I’ve created in a darkroom.

Some older shots for you to enjoy while I work on updating my more recent photography! Most of these are scanned from film so please excuse the quality. If you’re curious about more of the artwork I did in my younger days, feel free to look at my DeviantArt page . I haven’t updated in ages though, and anything else I upload there will be paintings and the like. This is my sole photography portfolio page.

Now Arriving on the Red Carpet…

17 07 2008

I recently came into possession of a Canon 10d. So I’m using the opportunity to start doing some photography work, and this is my resulting portfolio. Thanks for checking it out!

I became interested in photography as an art medium early on in my life, but a passion for it didn’t bloom until my junior year in high school. I can thank a great teacher for inspiring me, his name is Mr. David Friedle. Time and distance and lost emails and the like have prevented us from really communicating over the years, but I owe him a great deal of thanks. Heh, It kind of sounds like I’m at an awards ceremony and the producers are going to cut me off with a thrilling vibrato from the orchestra pit. Since I’m not an actress and will most likely never win anything that I’ll have to thank a long list of people for, I’ll get to the point.

My focus on photography has changed a bit since that time so long ago. I still view it as an art form and for many photographers it is, but for me it’s more of a service I offer for others. I offer them a beautiful way to preserve their memories. Who wouldn’t want to brag about that piece of eyecandy on the wall being a record of their own life? As a girl with a horrible memory myself (earning a nickname of “goldie” as in… goldfish), I’m happy to help others remember the fine details of their special day/moment/relationship…what have you. So, As I say to my friends quite often, “Will you be my model?”
